Food 2030
Fraser Associates is a huge supporter of Defra’s strategy for the Food and Farming industry - Food 2030. It has supported and worked with the private and public agri-food sectors to address several elements of the strategy for a considerable time. For example it:
• Creates competitive business by enhancing performance and improving customer and consumer confidence whilst using natural resources responsibly.
• Promotes the concept of seasonal food consumption to minimise energy use.
• Minimises post-harvest losses by adding value to surplus produce and manufacturing products in response to consumer demand thereby diverting potential waste from landfill.
• Exploits technology commercially to develop products and business.
• Makes food affordable whilst maximising producer margins by creating short low cost supply chains.
• Encourages and facilitates Public Sector Food Procurement through the supply of meal ingredients from local and regional primary and secondary food producers.
• Mentors and trains food businesses in the development and implementation of management systems to ensure the Safety, Quality and Legality of their products.
• Supports the Food Dudes programme to increase fruit and vegetable consumption, improve diet and tackle diet related illnesses.
